Wild Riders Mini ODE
There’s a new eventing series that has just started at the Taupo National Equestrian Centre with the first day being held over the weekend. “The Wild Riders” series is held over three competitions, with the next one on the 23rd of July and the last day on the 20th of August.
After heavy rain overnight, there were a few extra water jumps on the course but apparently that just added to the experience.
The course was very well set out with good variety of jumps to give horses and riders and excellent training run. As the emphasis was on training, there was no time limits for the jumping phases. There was one time limit however – you had thirty minutes to start your jumping after your dressage was finished. The cross country consisted of about 12 fences, and then the riders immediately followed with their show jumping phase. Four faults were added for a stop or a rail over the coloured fences, and 20 penalties if you stopped at a cross country fence. If you fell off, it would be 65 penalties.
Jan Sutherland from Take the Moment was the Wild Photographer for the day and here’s here gallery of photos from the event.
