It was also announced that the training programme for National Jumping Squads has been revamped for 2017-18 as there was feedback from those who attended training camps last year that they could be better tailored to suit the needs of squad riders. In acknowledgement of this, more funding has been applied to the camps and the programme on offer has been amplified.

The new programme includes three training camps during the season and a special fully funded clinic from world class international coach Rob Ehrens. This will be held in October in the North Island (at Equidays) and also in the South Island.

The National Jumping Selectors are Kaye Williams, Oliver Edgecombe, Jackie Jermyn and Chris Harris and they are responsible for:

  • Selecting riders for Youth Programme, Talent ID and Accelerator Development squads
  • Selecting Chefs d’Equipe for Trans-Tasman teams
  • Selecting self-funded tours
  • Selecting FEI teams for competitions in New Zealand and other national selections as required

ESNZ High Performance is responsible for the selection of Accelerator and High Performance squads and selection for Nations Cups, WEG and Olympic Games. High Performance and Accelerator squads are currently being revised and will be announced in due course.
