Nunney Horse Trials
Sir Mark Todd had a good win in the Open Intermediate on NZB Campino who lead after the dressage with the impressive score of 22.7. He didn’t add to that score. He was also 32nd on Landslide after having a rail show jumping. Jock Paget had Clifton Signature in that class as well but two rails showjumping relegated them to 33rd spot. Sir Mark was also fifth on Dusk till Dawn in a Novice class and Neil Spratt was ninth on Galwaybay Echo in an intermediate class.

Hopetoun
Blyth Tait and Darius finished in second position in the CIC2* competition at Hopetoun. It was won by Emily Parker on Hillary VD Bisschop, finishing just 0.4 ahead of Blyth, who was also 11th on Leo Distinction.
Caroline Powell finished second in the CIC3* on Spice Sensation, as previously reported on, and was also eighth in the CCI2* on Stellor Seaurchin. Chequers Play the Game won the class ridden by Vittoria Panizzon. This horse was campaigned by Jock Paget at two-star level back in 2012 and 2013.
Lizzie Brown had a good round in the novice class on her lovely grey horse Superstorm Sandy but was eliminated after finishing has she was deemed to have jumped outside a flag on a corner. Lizzie said that “despite having witnesses standing at the fence the ground jury wouldn’t overturn the decision of the fence judge to technically eliminate us.”
Henton Attorney General, previously campaigned by Lizzie, finished second for his new young rider Rosa Onslow in the CIC* Junior class.

Barbury
There are a lot of New Zealanders entered in the Barbury Horse Trials which is not surprising as it is the “local” event for so many of them. The event is on 7 – 10 July
The Event Riders Masters third leg will be at this lovely event. While lots entered, only thirty riders are accepted and six of them are New Zealanders. Sir Mark Todd (Leonidas), Tim (Obos Cooley) and Jonelle Price (Classic Moet), Blyth Tait (Xanthus), Andrew Nicholson (Nereo) and Jesse Campbell (Clevedon) made the cut. Jonelle is the highest placed rider in the series, followed by Jesse and Tim.
Lizzie Brown has her Havanna Van Castanaehof entered in the CIC3* class after a good performance in their first appearance at this level at Hopetoun. Jesse Campbell has three other horses at the event, Kaapachino will be in the CIC3* plus he has two novices. Lucy Jackson returns from injury with three horses all entered in the two-star class and Dan Jocelyn also has three in various classes.
Clarke Johnstone has Balmoral Sensation and Deo Volente II entered in the CIC2*, that will be a step up for Deo Volente who had a win at Nunney over the weekend and a good run for Ritchie who is also entered at Farley Hall on June 25-26.
Alice Montgomery has one novice entered, but Andrew Nicholson has seven entered in various classes including Jet Set and Teseo in the three-star and Nereo in the Event Riders Masters class. Andrew has won the three star class here for the last four years on Avebury who has now retired. We are hoping that there may be a retirement ceremony for the lovely horse either at this event or at Burghley, where he won three times. He certainly deserves a special ceremony.
Caroline Powell will be there with Halltown Harley and Spice Sensation in the CIC3*. Jonelle has three in different level classes, so perhaps she might be able to help Tim who has entered five. Bango is in the CIC3* and Obos Cooley is the one for the ERM class.
Tim Rusbridge has two in, as does Neil Spratt and Annabel Wigley has Cotswold in the 3* but Blyth has five entered! Bear Necessity is in the CIC3* and Xanthus gets the run in the ERM class. Carin, Darius and Leo Distinction are in the 2*.
Cam Robertson has entered Black Ink in the CIC3*, it will be a big outing for young Cam!
Sir Mark also has five entered, three of them in the CIC3* (Landslide, MK San Cero, and Obos Colombus) but it is Leonidas who gets a shot at the rich ERM class.
