If you win Lotto tonight…

If you win Lotto, you will have lots of money at your disposal so we've come up with some great ideas on how you could spend it.

moneyThe NZ Lotto has been jackpotting and is now up to $30 million!  Wow, there’s some serious shopping that you could do if you won all that on your own!

Maybe you would like to buy a show jumper? The current World Champion is for sale. He goes up for auction soon. You can read all about the sale on this link. There are more than just the World Champion for sale. You might be able to buy two!  It has also just been announced that Valegro’s little brother (just a cute foal at the moment), is going to be auctioned so if you are after a dressage horse, he could well be one for the future!

Maybe you fancy having your own equestrian venue.  Woodhill Sands is for sale, near Auckland, or if you wanted a South Island estate, there are some equestrian properties available, including this lovely one at Darfield or another close to West Melton where lots of fabulous horsey people live. Or you could buy both and maybe you would have some money left over for a new float? A new tractor could be very useful too, and possibly keep the blokes in your life happy.

One thing that many of us have always wanted is a poo-picker-upper. No more wheelbarrow and shovel if a Lotto win comes your way.

You could probably even pay someone else to do the work for you!

But… what about something for your horse?  You won’t have to worry any more about getting any covers patched or mended, you can just go out and get new ones!

And why stop at just new covers? You could splash out on all sorts of gear! Oh, imagine going shopping in your favourite equestrian shop knowing your bank account was seriously healthy with all those Lotto winnings in it!

And of course now you will be able to go to the Olympics in Rio. There is not much left in the way of five-star accommodation during August when the Games are on, but we understand there are still plenty of other places available.

There's still accommodation available at Rio hotels.

We quite liked the look of this one. While not five-star, it looks pretty comfortable to us and there is still a room available for just over $20,000 for the entire Games.

There are also still some business class flights available from Auckland to Rio; they will set you back about $10,000.

Since you are so rich now, you may not want to go to Rio and have to stay in less than five-star hotels.

Perhaps you would prefer to go to the Burghley Horse Trials, so you could fly first class to London for about $15,000 return.

You’ll need to stay in a nice hotel in London and Claridge’s embodies the essence of true English style. You can get a suite for about £2,000 a night, and there is now a very good exchange rate for the pound!

Some of your favourite charities could benefit from your luck. There are many deserving equestrian-focused ones that would welcome your donations – including the Kaimanawa Trust. Then there is Riding for the Disabled who do some awesome work. And the Catwalk Trust was set up by rider Catriona Williams: they are working to raise funds to support research into finding a cure for spinal injuries however they were incurred.

So, good luck if you are one of those who will buy a Lotto ticket in the hope of beating the odds. And do let us know if you need a hand sorting out how to spend your money, we have lots of other good ideas!
